The Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh today lodged a firm protest against the remarks reportedly made by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah concerning Bangladeshi nationals during his recent visit to Jharkhand.

In a protest note handed over to the Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Dhaka, the ministry expressed its serious concerns, deep sense of hurt, and strong discontent. It urged the Indian government to advise its political leaders to refrain from making such objectionable and unacceptable comments.

The ministry further emphasized that statements from individuals in responsible positions, targeting nationals of a neighboring country, undermine the spirit of mutual respect and understanding between the two friendly nations.

Amit Shah, speaking at a rally in Jharkhand on Friday, stated that if the BJP returns to power in the state, it would expel Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators from Jharkhand.
