JUly Uprising and Thoughts from Bangladeshi-Americans

Bangladeshi-Americans Eager to Help Build a New Bangladesh

Attending the second reunion of the Gregorians of North America (GNA) on September 14 in New Jersey was a heartwarming experience, filled with familiar faces . Nearly 200 former students of St. Gregory's High School in Dhaka gathered, many accompanied by their spouses, traveling from all corners of the US and Canada. The event was a delightful opportunity to reconnect, reminisce, and share stories and school-era jokes.

One of the highlights of the reunion was a session dedicated to Bangladesh’s journey to becoming a Test-playing cricket nation, particularly focusing on our recent outstanding performance against Pakistan. The discussion sparked lively comments about the ongoing tour of India, bringing back memories of our early cricket heroes—Syed Ashraful Huq, Yousuf Babu, and Khandker Nazrul Quader Lintu. Their personal stories of early setbacks, relentless effort, and eventual triumph captivated the audience. As they shared their insights on the future of cricket in Bangladesh, we couldn’t help but wonder why these seasoned stars are not part of the current cricket board leadership, especially in light of the significant changes occurring within professional organizations.
