Dengue: One Dead, 843 Hospitalised in a Day

One more person has died from dengue in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 125 this year. During this period, 843 new patients were hospitalised with dengue-related viral fever, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the newly hospitalised patients, 226 were admitted to hospitals under the Dhaka North City Corporation, while 162 were admitted in the Dhaka South City Corporation. Currently, 2,706 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the country.

Since January 1, 2024, a total of 23,108 dengue cases have been reported.

Last year, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, making it the deadliest year on record. The DGHS reported 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries in 2023.
