Title: Bangladesh Greenlights Hilsa Fish Export to India for Durga Puja Festivities

In a significant decision, the Bangladesh government has approved the export of 3,000 tonnes of hilsa fish to India in celebration of Durga Puja, as announced by the commerce ministry today. Interested exporters are encouraged to reach out to the appropriate division within the ministry to secure the necessary export permits.

Earlier this year, the interim government had opted to halt hilsa exports to India, aiming to strengthen local supply for domestic consumers. This latest approval marks a shift in policy, reflecting the importance of hilsa in cultural and festive contexts, particularly during the vibrant Durga Puja celebrations.
